To be successful, let alone joyful, it takes an incredible team of friends, family, and colleagues. Lifelong learning, not becoming complacent, balancing our “known variables” with new unknowns – “adventure!” – seems key (and hopefully more than a little fun).
As we settle further into 2026, look for more improvements on this brand-new website, followed by new blogs / articles, as well as the potential for social media updates. I couldn’t do it without an incredible web team!
As a therapist in private practice, I am enjoying a new gym for new class options, along with my usual bike rides along beaches and through beach cities. Friends and family keep me grounded; colleagues keep me centered, as we collaborate and support each other with second opinions and clinical supervision.
Academics take a back seat to the profession and family life — for now. I have to take my own advice, which can be the hardest advice to take sometimes. Namely, enjoy the process, maintain balance, and everything in moderation. The Navy SEALs mantra, “slow is smooth, smooth is fast” inspires many of us to value precision over speed and remain mindful of where to direct our focus and attention. If that mantra works for them, I know it can work for me.
