Michael Nee, M.A., CST, LMFT (#89379) sees individuals and couples from Santa Monica at an office on West Washington Boulevard in Mar Vista, roughly ten to fifteen minutes from most of Santa Monica outside of rush hour, and by telehealth anywhere in California.
A Therapist Close to Santa Monica Without the Santa Monica Parking
The practical objection to therapy in Santa Monica is rarely the therapy. It is the logistics: a 4pm appointment that requires leaving at 3:15, a parking structure with a queue, and a session that starts with an apology. The office here sits east of Lincoln with street parking outside, which for a 50 minute session is the difference between keeping a weekly appointment and quietly abandoning it by week five.
Clients come from Ocean Park, Sunset Park, Mid-City Santa Monica and Wilshire-Montana, along with neighboring Venice and Marina del Rey. Telehealth covers the weeks when travel is not realistic, and many clients alternate deliberately: in person when the work is difficult, remote when the week is full.
What Brings People From Santa Monica
The pattern here skews toward two-career couples, people in entertainment, technology and medicine, and adults who suspect their attention has never worked the way other people describe. That produces a fairly consistent set of presenting problems: a relationship running the same argument for years, anxiety that has become physical, a promotion that arrived with an unexpected flatness, and desire that has quietly diverged.
Areas of work: individual therapy, couples therapy, adult ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, life transitions, therapy for men, chronic illness, sex and sexuality, and sex therapy for couples.
Fees, Insurance and Length of Work
Sessions are 50 minutes. The practice is out of network, and a superbill can be provided for reimbursement through a PPO plan; the FAQ page lists the questions worth asking your insurer before you start. Length of work varies honestly: some people come for eight sessions about one decision, others stay a year or more. Nobody is asked to commit to a number at the outset.
